Spots and Congestion
Unfortunately pimples and congested skin aren't any thing new to me but I've learnt through the years how to manage this problem. Frequent applications of Glycolic acid had always worked to keep my skin under control............until 2 years ago that is! Oh and what a sorry state my jawline was in. Eruptions (of seismic proportions) is a sufficiently dramatic word to describe the state of my jaw. There was no mistaking these bad boys for pimples. Oh no, these were serious painful, red angry carbuncles. Sorry, I hope I haven't put you off your food.
I needed to find out what was causing this issue and find a fix fast! I read up on this condition and to my horror they were caused by hormonal shifts and imbalances in the body. What could I possibly do about these out of control hormones? Let them run their course or take action! Inevitably I took action and did a little research into what the best ingredients were to combat this problem.
Salicylic acid or BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) kept popping up during my research. Its micro-exfoliating and known to penetrate deep down within the pores, destroying any bacteria in its path. With continued use it prevents further spots. This is what I'd been looking for! I tried numerous products containing this acid but to no avail, until I stumbled across La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+). Wow, wow and wow!! Within a week I noticed a significant improvement, it was obviously working its magic.
Effaclar Duo (+) is an oil free, mattifying moisturiser. The Salicylic acid within targets congested pores and goes about its job to de-clog. It also contains an ingredient called Niacinamide which is known for brightening the tone and its anti-inflammatory properties.
I can now Never live without this wonder lotion. I apply it to my jawline morning and evening and it has kept any pimples or spots at bay, whilst also lightening existing red marks left by previous eruptions.........Result!! I couldn't ask for more really. Im not saying this will work for everyone but it did turn my skin around.
